History of Waves of Glory (Now known as The Wave Church)

In 1970, Pastor Edwin Wiebe and his lovely wife Ollie, founded Waves of Glory, a Christian radio station that reached out to the people of South-Eastern Manitoba, and even broadcasted as far as Africa; with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Between 1970 and 1986, Waves of Glory served the community out of multiple locations, ministering to the diverse people of Winnipeg. In 1986, they purchased the present building at 364 Furby Street, where their ministry focus was on reaching youth, children and families in the neighbourhood. The congregation of Waves of Glory raised up many generations of people who have been delivered from addictions and troubled lives, to become very influential people.

One such person is Rob Wilson, known as Fresh I.E., who Pastor Wiebe mentored, and worked with, to turn his life around from a lost youth living in gang activity and addictions, to an ordained Minister. Fresh I.E. is a 2-time Grammy nominee artist reaching out to young people through his own ministry centers, sharing the Gospel of Jesus, all across the country. There are many others who have turned their lives around, and made strong commitments to Christianity, now serving as pastors, musicians and politicians. Pastor Wiebe continues to reach out to the Indigenous people, and leaders with the Gospel, after retiring from his position as head pastor at Waves of Glory.

In 2015, Waves of Glory merged with Harvest Family Church to become “The Wave Church”. After his retirement, Pastor Wiebe’s daughter Tamara and son-in-law Duane Siemens lead the church into what it is today - a church family uniting many nations. Along with a team of devoted Christian leaders, The Wave Church is continuing the legacy of meeting the needs of our church family and surrounding community with humanitarian support. It has become a Ministry Hub in the Inner City of Winnipeg.

For many generations to come, Pastor Wiebe & Ollie will always be honoured and remembered for their great sacrifice and the legacy they left through the many lives they touched from Waves of Glory to our present family at The Wave Church.
